Walking was the standard mode of transportation in Jesus's time, so we read that He walked around Nazareth and Capernaum, He walked by the shore to call His disciples, He walked around—and even on—the Sea of Galilee, He walked through Samaria, He walked to the Garden of Gethsemane and up the hill of Golgotha.  Everywhere Jesus walked, He interacted with the people whom He met along the way, even stopping His journey to get to know a tax collector in a tree, heal a man blind since birth, bless children and infants, and challenge us all to accept what God's Love means in our daily walk.

We don't walk much today.  We drive cars, ride buses, and fly in airplanes, eager for faster ways to reach our destinations, but we miss that the journey is important, too.  When we walk, we see more, talk more, experience more than we do in more “efficient” forms of transportation.  When we walk just for the experience of walking, we gain more insight into examples from the scriptures, we train ourselves to see more, and we feel better for the physical exercise.

God has called us to be faithful sojourners—travelers—walking on this earth as we prepare for our destination in Heaven.  We know our Christian walk requires faith, for God frequently shows us only one step at a time as we follow God's lead for our lives.  During this message series, carefully consider your walks, both physically and spiritually, anticipating with eagerness how God will use those opportunities in your life.
